Liselotte Fierens will present on the development of a Core Outcome Set (COS) for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). As part of the Health Outcomes Observatory (H2O) IMI-funded project, and building on existing knowledge, the IBD COS was defined through an international modified Delphi method involving 136 stakeholders from 20 countries, including patients (advocates), health care professionals and researchers, industry representatives and regulators. The set includes case-mix variables, biomarkers, and patient-reported outcome and experience measures. Increasing uptake of PROMs usage empowers patients to better manage their care, while standardisation of health outcome measurements supports delivery of care and enables data-driven learning systems and secondary data use for research. The COS has already been implemented in clinical practice at multiple partner sites in the H2O project, with hundreds of patients enrolled and first results presented internationally at the ECCO 2025 Conference.

We are thrilled to announce a very interesting upcoming journal club during which Ann-Kristin Porth will discuss one of her papers, titled “putting person-centered care into practice: two psychological care pathways based on outcome preferences of people with diabetes and healthcare professionals”.  This article shows two care pathways that follow a stepped approach, starting with the assessment of psychological well-being and quality of life and proceeding from there.

This approach shows promise to facilitate the implementation of person-centred psychosocial diabetes care by reducing the burden and making psychosocial issues more accessible.

Find out how these psychosocial care pathways, that reflect the outcome preferences of patients and healthcare providers, were designed and how to utilize the pathways to approach psychosocial problems in consultations.

In this session we explored the mere measurement effect and its application in value based healthcare and patient reported outcomes. A big thanks to all who attended and helped foster the excellent discussion! A recording of JC#1 – the mere-measurement effect of health behaviors – will soon be made available to all members.
